Hello, I’m putting this on here as a “to do” list so I can actually maybe get my shit together musically and be a pretty decent musician by the end of the semester. Hopefully this helps me at least organize my thoughts as well as help me figure out my weekly schedule somewhat.
1. Practice “Cello Suite No. 1” on bass for at least 1 hour a night.I’m seriously behind on this regard and I need to catch up.
2. Practice Rush’s “Tears” and Genesis’ “Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” to cover for Shadow Proclamation. I figure I have a pretty good handle on these songs, so about 20 minutes each a night won’t kill me too much.
3. Musicianship 211 Rhythm/Sightsinging- I’m doing TERRIBLE at this in class, despite the fact that I do practice these pieces. However, I figure if I can focus on 1 of the 8 exercises a night and do it for 30 mins to an hour, and then use the previous night’s exercise as a warm up, I might be able to get a handle on these exercises.
4. Practice my piano- this is a “do it as much as I can type of deal”, but ideally I’m looking at about an hour a night. The piece right now that I’m focusing on is a slow and fairly easy (but not simple) piece, “Asa’s Death” by Edvard Grieg. Hopefully by the end of this week (def by the end of next) I can get this piece memorized and I can record myself playing it.
There’s also other things of note, but these are pretty self explanatory. For example, for Music 201, I need to read 6 chapters, as well as analyze some music. Well, Monday and Weds I’ll read 3 chapters each, and analyze the music from the respective chapters on Tues and Thurs. I’ll be ready for that quiz in no time! Another obvious one that will take me a few minutes is the worksheet for my Harmony 213 class, but that’s not too much of an issue.
Hopefully this also helps me organize my musical thoughts
