The Thoughts of Nicholas Cooper I

I’m finally getting my creative side out!

Well, it’s been quite a creative rut for me, but I think I’ve finally gotten past this curve. For starters, I’ve started work on a symphony (although it’s probably closer to a symphonic poem) called “Symphony of the Cossaks”. It’s a pretty brass heavy piece…which, while brass brings a sort of majestic, epic approach to things, the midi sound for any classical instrument is terrible on guitar pro…I’m gonna try it out on Finale or Sibelius. I also feel kind of bad because many of the chords I used I found thanks to the midi sounds on guitar pro. Is that cheating, since I did have an idea of the the music and the general progression I wanted beforehand, the program just helped me give the piece a more exotic flavor. Also, I picked up writing again. I’m starting work on a gothic horror epic…although I’m still figuring out the plot. I do know it will have this: necromancy, werewolves, Xanadu, vampires, parts set in various eras of history, the folkloric Wandering Jew as a major character, and a priest who is a vampire. I’m not sure how much of this I’ll actually work on, since I do have no idea of a general plot, but hey, at least I’m writing again. That being said, I think I really need to work on practicing my bass and piano sometime in the near future.
